About Us

Home About Us

Anishinaabemowin Teg Inc is a non profit charitable corporation dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Anishinaabemowin (language) of the Anishinaabe (People) of the Great Lakes region.

Anishinaabemowin Teg Inc has a twelve member Board of Directors, with an Elder’s Senate, and several Youth Representatives.

This volunteer group provides direction and support in the goals and objectives of the organization.

Each year Anishinaabemowin Teg hosts an annual language conference in Sault Ste. Marie area.  The conference is held at the end of March each year.

The conference is held in March because of the declaration of the language and celebration of the languages in Canada as stated by AFN. We try to bring awareness of the language issue and how important it is to have it at that time. We are taking ownership of our languages by practicing the language in the social settings and workplace. We gather together to celebrate as to what we have left, to protect, revitalize and renew.
