Anishinaabemowin-Teg Inc. is an Indigenous-led, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, teaching, developing, and revitalizing Anishinaabemowin and Anishinaabe cultural pride across the Great Lakes region.

For over 32 years, we have brought together Elders, speakers, learners, educators, and youth to ensure our language remains spoken, practiced, and lived.

Isadore Toulouse

Nswi Aandegook

Isadore has been involved in Anishinaabemowin promotion for over 40 years. A member of the Turtle clan, from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, Isadore grew up immersed in an Anishinaabemowin-speaking environment. He was inspired to devote much of his life to championing the language.

Patricia Ningewance Waabi-bizhikiikwe

Patricia is from Lac Seul First Nation and has dedicated her life to teaching the generation of Anishinaabemowin speakers. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada for her contributions to the vitality of Indigenous languages as an Anishinaabemowin teacher, author and publisher.

Alan Ojiig Corbiere

Alan is from M’Chigeeng First Nation and is known for his work in Indigenous history, Anishinaabemowin language revitalization, and cultural preservation. He is also an Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous History at York University.

Claudette Commanda Kaa-nii-iwe Kijikong Kinew

Claudette is Algonquin Anishinabe from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation in Quebec. She is also Chancellor of the University of Ottawa and the Executive Director of the First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centres.
